Let's continue with car-related vocabulary. Once more, I've prepared a vocabulary list and tried to include some regional variations. If you know any other variation or a word that it's outdated or used in a different way in your country, please let me know to update my list.
- to drive = conducir, manejar
- to give way = ceder el paso
- to vertake = adelantar, rebasar
- to pull in = parar
- to park = aparcar, parquear, estacionar
- to honk the horn / to beep / to toot = tocar la bocina (el pito, el claxon), bocinar, pitar
- to hang a right/left , turn right/left = cruzar (virar o girar) a la derecha / a la izquierda
- traffic = el tráfico
- traffic jam = atasco (España), embotellamiento (Guatemala, Argentina, España), trancón (Colombia), congestión, atascamiento, atolladero
- avenue, boulevard = la avenida
- street = la calle
- dead end = la calle sin salida
- alley, narrow street = el callejón
- blind alley = el callejón sin salida
- road = la carretera, la calle
- main road, “A” road = carretera principal
- secondary road, "B" road = carretera secundaria
- shortcut = atajo
- freeway, highway (US), motorway (UK) = autopista, carretera
- divided highway (US), dual carriageway (UK) = autopista de 2 carriles
- interstate = autopista/carretera interestatal
- lane = vía, carril (de circulación)
- four-lane highway = una carretera de cuatro carriles
- traffic circle, rotary (US), roundabout (UK) = glorieta (Colombia), rotonda (Guatemala)
- crossroad, intersection, crossing = el cruce, la intersección
- zebra crossing = el paso de cebra, el paso peatonal o paso de peatones (España, Guatemala), la senda peatonal (Argentina), el puente peatonal (México)
- sidewalk (US), pavement (UK) = la acera (España), la vereda (Argentina), la banqueta (México, Guatemala), el andén (Colombia, Ecuador)
- shoulder (side of the road) = arcén (España), banquina (Argentina), orilla de la carretera (Guatemala)
- block = cuadra
- curb (US), kerb (UK) = bordillo, el borde del andén (Colombia)
- holes (along a road) = los socavones, los baches
- ditch = la zanja, la cuneta, la canaleta
- drain = la alcantarilla (España, Colombia), el desagüe, el desaguadero, el drenaje (Latinoamérica)
- streetlight = la farola, el alumbrado público
- city center, downtown = el centro (de la ciudad)
- the outskirts = las afueras (de la ciudad)
- square = la plaza, la plazuela, la plazoleta
- park = el parque
- parking lot (US), car park (UK) = aparcamiento (España), estacionamiento (México, Guatemala), parqueo (Guatemala, Cuba, El Salvador y Nicaragua), playa de estacionamiento (Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Perú y Uruguay), parqueadero (Colombia)
