Most young couples consider their wedding to be one of the most important days of their life. So, let’s learn some vocabulary about this special ocassion.

  • I can hear wedding bells. – Me huele a boda.
  • Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. – Siempre la segundona.
  • To have sex before the wedding and get pregnant – Comerse el pastel antes de la boda, Meter las patas


Note that the word "wedding" -when used as an adjective- is not always translated as de boda. For example, a wedding dress is vestido de novia, the wedding march is marcha nupcial. Also notice that some words use the plural form, while some others use the singular one. For example, we say el día de la boda, la noche de bodas, el anillo de boda, el registro de bodas.
