At the Hotel

If you're planning to visit a Spanish-speaking country, you'll probably stay at a hotel. Here's a useful list of words and phrases you'll be using.

Basic Vocabulary

• hotel = el hotel
  
• inn = el albergue
  
• reception =la recepción
  
• room = la habitación (también la recámara/el cuarto)
  
• single room = la habitación individual (o sencilla)
  
• double room = la habitación doble
  
• room that looks out on... = la habitación con vistas a...
  
  
• half board = media pensión
  
• full board = pensión completa (todo incluído)
  
• reservation = la reserva (España), la reservación (Latinoamérica)
  
  
• claim or complaint = la reclamación o queja (España), el reclamo (Argentina, Guatemala)

Verbs

• to make a reservation = Hacer una reserva (o reservación)
  
• to cancel a reservation = Cancelar (o Anular) una reserva (o reservación)
  
• to confirm a reservation = Confirmar una reserva (o reservación)
  
• to check in = registrarse
  
• to check out = Dejar la habitación

Making a hotel reservation at the Travel Agent's

Client	We've decided to go to Pisa for 2 weeks.	Hemos decidido ir a Pisa por dos semanas.
Travel Agent	OK, have you decided on the hotel?	De acuerdo, ya eligieron el hotel?
Client	Yes, the "Pisa Continental", which is a first class one.	Sí, el "Pisa Continental" que es uno de primera clase (o 5 estrellas)
Travel Agent	Would you prefer full board?	¿Desean el paquete todo incluído? (o pensión completa)
Client	No, just bed and breakfast, please	No, únicamente hospedaje (o alojamiento) y desayuno.

Making a hotel reservation by phone
